Jay Pilch, founder and President, has been the principal of South Florida Restoration, which has been a licensed general contractor firm since 1972. Originally from the Mid-Atlantic region, he came to South Florida in 1982 and began restoring homes and commercial buildings that were damaged by fires, water or heavy winds, working closely with the insurance companies that were responsible for the ...damage claims. In 1985 South Florida Restoration was formally established. The company quickly established a reputation for being the most reliable in Southern Florida, and the quality of the work far surpassed what the insurance companies and property owners had seen in the past. As the reputation spread, home and commercial building owners began approaching the company to perform large scale renovations of their homes and buildings. The company has never looked back. It has never formally advertised its renovation business, and due to word-of-mouth, has been renovating homes and commercial buildings continuously since the late 1980’s. The primary factor in being able to maintain its solid reputation has been the philosophy of the company’s leadership, stating that all employees will do whatever is necessary to create 100% customer satisfaction. What has enabled the company to persist in maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction is its strategy to employ full time workers, rather than using sub-contractors. This has enabled the company to more closely respond to customer needs, accurately manage the scheduling of the day to day construction tasks, and to ensure the quality of the end product. The company currently employs 20 full-time staff. Being there for its customers is another way that the company has maintained its reputation. To accomplish this, the company maintains office space in North Miami Beach, which is staffed full time including a full time office manager. When a customer calls, someone is always there to respond. Ever since the company started renovating homes and commercial buildings, the property owners have been searching for a company to assist them with the day-to-day minor repairs and maintenance that occurred after their large scale renovations were complete. They wanted a company that was responsive to their needs in a fashion equal to that of South Florida Restoration. In early 2002 the company established its Handyman & Maintenance Division specifically to respond to these customer needs. South Florida Restoration’s Renovation and Handyman & Maintenance divisions are now servicing all of the coastal areas between South Beach in the south to Golden Beach in the north.
