I graduated from social work school in 1990 but worked in mental health for many years before. I have two Master's Degrees and three licenses in mental health. I have taught at colleges and universities, as well as being a therapist. I have also worked in substance abuse for 20 years and am licensed alcohol and drug counselor. I come from a psychodynamic background but presently lean more toward a humanistic and cognitive/behavioral therapy. I gear the therapy toward whatever the client needs at the time and feel a sense of humor can help a lot. My style is interactive with the client, and I feel that the relationship with the client often acts as a model for relationships in the client's life. I do think it is important to understand past relationships in order to work on improving present relationship.
