Cynthia M. Lifson graduated from Smith College, majoring in government, and from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies with a Master’s Degree in international relations. Prior to her admission to the bar, Cynthia worked in Washington, D.C. as a lobbyist for business interests and as a researcher on international projects related to developing nations. Cynthia opened her law office as an attorney on the first Monday in October of 1993. She currently concentrates on matters related to families, and provides services in the areas of domestic relations, estates and trusts, and small business. She also serves as a mediator and collaborative law practitioner. Since 1994, she has been the legislative counsel to the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence. In representing citizens dealing with domestic violence before the Maryland General Assembly, Cynthia has been involved in the passage of over 70 statutes affecting Maryland’s civil and criminal laws and rules of procedure in the state courts. Cynthia has written articles on diverse legal topics for local journals and is an active volunteer in various professional and service organizations and in her community in Central Maryland.
