No two snowflakes are the same nor are any two clients. I consider myself an eclectic therapist when it comes to therapeutic approaches. I believe there is no formula that is written that says when they say this you say that or use this theory or that. I believe the work is an organic process through which healing comes from many paths. In working with my clients, I take into consideration your "who you are-ness" and work from that perspective. WE will explore your strengths and discover your own tried and true methods. Once we have identified these items, we will examine what has been working for you and what has not: from there we can determine if anything needs to be adjusted, thrown out, or left as is; in order to transform your vision, your thoughts, or maybe even yourself. I first entered the helping profession working with children in afterschool programs. After developing a disguised learning program for elementary and middle school children, I taught this program through LAUSD in afterschool programs. While working with these children, I discovered the sad fact that many of today’s children are under-informed about academic topics and well over-informed about topics about which youngsters should know nothing. This revelation brought to mind something my grandmothers both said to me growing up, “To she whom much is given, much is required.” Having grown up with the gift of a warm loving family, I chose to answer the call for higher academic pursuits and returned to school to earn my Masters of Counseling, Marriage, Family, Child Therapy from the University of Phoenix, Woodland Hills Campus.
