DO YOU HAVE A CLAIM? When you’ve had damage to your property, whether it be commercial or residential, you’ll need to determine if the damage is worthy of filing an insurance claim. There are many factors to consider before calling the insurance company. Is the damage covered under my policy? How much damage is there and how much is it going to cost to repair? Is there more to my claim than I realize? How much is my deductible and is it even worth filing a claim? These are all questions that we can answer for you at no charge and with no obligation. There’s more to consider than just what meets the eye. You also have loss of wages in businesses (business interruption), content damage and replacement, additional living expenses (when you’ve had to move out temporarily), and other fileable items that you probably wouldn’t think about, until it’s breaking the bank! BEFORE YOU CALL THE INSURANCE COMPANY Contacting us before you call your insurance company is key. A full property inspection, policy review, and consultation will need to take place with the property owner to formulate a course of action. This is a free service and you are not obligated to use us after, unless you want to. High quality photographs of the damage will need to be taken and data (measurements and more) will need to be collected from the damage before your insurance company is notified. There are several reasons for this. First, we need to know exactly where the problem lies, what caused it, when it happened, how it happened, and if further damage can be mitigated or stopped/prevented. Knowing these things going in will help us to have a rebuttal to any theories that the insurance company may contrive. Also, photos are super important! Your insurance company is going to send out their adjuster and they will take photos. But you can’t control what angles or what portions of the damage they will capture. It’s important that we have solid visual proof of the damages in their totality, to refute any arguments about the damages. Filing the claim is something that the insurance company will want you to do in haste; which leaves many things forgotten and only surface information to be given.
