Divorces are no different. New York was one of the last states to adopt "no fault" grounds for divorce (known as Irretrievable Breakdown in the Relationship). What this means for couples is that they no longer have spend time convincing a judge that the marriage is not working out. However, all financial issues and/or issues regarding the children of the marriage must be resolved before a judge will sign the judgment of divorce.
