"The instructor, Simon Rudowski is a chess expert, active tournament player, chess writer and organizer. Among his competitive achievements the most recent ones include winning money prizes at the Empire City Open and at the prestigious Fide Monday tournaments at the Marshall Chess Club in Manhattan. Since the 2009/10 season he has held the role of captain and coach of the BTL chess team competing in New York's Commercial Chess League, currently runners-up inthe highest division of the league”


Classes will cover the following topics:
1. The board: its geometry, color complexes on it, the coordinates, and why it's important to master the visualization.
2. The pieces: how they move, how they are efficient and how they are not, how to improve the efficiency of your pieces and how to limit the danger from your opponent's pieces.
3. Purpose of a game: winning by checkmate- lots of patterns to achieve it, and how it should always be on their mind as the final goal.
4. Before the checkmate: how do we get there? Overview of different stages of the game- opening, middle game, end game.
5. Master the Game: applying strategies during chess matches.
6. Competition: how to win, How to lose gracefully without tears.
7. Importance of cooperation & teamwork: not just in chess but on how this can be translated into other areas of life.
